Cab Franc – A Top Pick

Lakewood Vineyards has experienced a busy year with a number of nice accolades and awards. Our fall newsletter will be out soon with the various awards noted.

Most recently our Cabernet Franc was selected as a top pick in a New York Times article about Finger Lakes Cabernet Franc. Below is a link the to the article.

While we are sold out of the 2014 Cabernet Franc reviewed in the article we now have the 2016 Cabernet Franc available. When asked for their opinion on the differences between the 2 vintages the winemaking team says:

“The chemistry is almost identical, but the 2016 is a little fleshier. It was a smaller crop and the wine has firm acidity, with ripe fruit flavors.” They like it even more than they liked the 2014.

As the holidays continue we hope you will think of including some Lakewood wines in your holiday celebrations. Better yet we hope you will come visit us and choose just what you like best.

Wishing everyone a safe, and joyful holiday,

Liz Stamp and the family at Lakewood Vineyards

Enjoyed my visit- a warm and friendly winery. Try the Three Generations Riesling- one of the very best in the Finger Lakes Region.

I have to second the Drumroll for the 3G Riesling 2012 vintage. Definitely one of the best Rieslings that I brought back home after a Seneca Lake Wine Trail visit.

I attended a small, two-day Veterans reunion in Watkins Glen, NY during Oct 6-8, 2015 and as a part of that gathering on Oct 7, we went on a wine tasting tour of several wineries around Seneca Lake. Of all the tasting rooms we visited, Lakewood Vineyards was the absolute best with the most cordial and welcoming atmosphere! The server was excellent, offering to match each taster to the wines best suited to their preferences. And the wines were also excellent. She also advised that they apply the $2 tasting fee to any resulting purchases. When she realized we were a group of Vietnam Veterans and wives, she informed us that Lakewood Vineyards supported veterans, but offered a 10% veterans discount. They even had a combined group discount if a certain level of purchases were made by any visiting group. Several of us purchased wine. I bought two bottles of an excellent Riesling. We had a most enjoyable experience at Lakewood. I highly recommend you visit this Vineyard if in the Finger Lakes area.

WE are happy that you liked the 2011 Niagara. We are currently selling the 2014 Niagara and it is as delicious as the 2011. It is a gold medal winner as well. We hope you will come see us to restock your Niagara.

Hi! I visited the area this past June and purchased the Long Stem Red 2014. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was wondering if it is still available. If not, how does it compare to the 2015?

      Hi Janet,
We are happy that you enjoyed the 2014 Long Stem Red.
The 2014 Long stem Red is no longer available but the 2015 is selling really well and people seem to like the 2015 as well as they liked the 2014.
Feel free to call if you are interested in ordering some Long Stem Red.
      Happy New Year!
      The staff at Lakewood Vineyards
